It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness...

The Catholic tradition teaches that human dignity can be protected and a healthy community can be achieved only if human rights are protected and responsibilities are met. Therefore, every person has a fundamental right to those things required for human decency. Corresponding to these rights are duties and responsibilities--to one another, to our families, and to the larger society. We feel that it is our duty to provide water, nutritious food and clothing to those who otherwise would not have access to these items.  To join us please consider donating to one of the following campaigns.

water recovery for flint

During the ongoing Flint Water Recovery Efforts, Catholic Charities is providing help to those in need through its Center for Hope Community Closet and North End Soup Kitchens. Families and individuals are able to take home bottled water, as supplies permit M-F: 9:30 am -3:30 pm at the corner of Louisa and Root St.

Keep flint healthy

We need your help to raise funds to allow us to purchase healthy, fresh foods like: fruits, vegetables and dairy products, that we will then be able to serve to our soup kitchen guests, distribute to those in need in our community and  to help combat the effects of lead in their bodies! AS YOU KNOW fresh produce is EXPENSIVE! Help us provide them for the kiddos who need it the most.

BENEATH provides homeless individuals with underwear and socks.  These items are among the most requested yet least donated items in homeless shelters.  By providing these necessities, you are giving much more than clothing.  Your donation is a symbol that you recognize we are all the same beneath the surface.  BENEATH recognizes that a person’s self-worth comes from within and that dignity is the cornerstone of healing.
