Mr. Rogers Garden Program Dedicated to providing long-term, community-based mentoring for at-risk young people.
Putting talented young people on track for the future.
Catholic Charities' partnership with the Mr. Rogers Program has resulted in one of Genesee County's most successful mentoring programs. The program, originally developed by Mr. Wendell Rogers after years of working in the Michigan Corrections system, provides young men and women the opportunity to learn business and employment skills while experiencing active mentoring. The participants, often at high-risk for illegal activities, drug and alcohol use, and academic failure, work in a functional gardening program where they are responsible for all phases of the business from planting to harvest and sale. Program director Greg Gaines and his team work with program members at two garden sites: Ebenezer Ministries in Burton and Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Flint.
Thank You

T
hings are growing in the Mr. Rogers Summer Garden Program. Greg Gaines and his dedicated team worked long and hard to make this growing season a success, in spite of the challenges presented by Mother Nature, including the launch of a new Culinary Class for teen workers. Classes were held on Tuesday and Saturday in the old St. Michael School home ec room at atholic Charities Center for Hope. Students received hands-on training from Chef Nate Brown and Chef Molly, both graduates of the Mott Community College School of Culinary Arts. This year also saw grant awards from the Ruth Mott Foundation, Sunrise Rotary, and a Rainmaker grant from HealthPlus.. These gifts allow for various program expansions. For more information, or to make a contribution to the Mr. Rogers Program, contact Greg Gaines at 810-232-9950 ext. 379.

We thank you for your patronage, we have enjoyed serving all of our customers. As we go back to school, we will pray for you and hope you will pray for us. God willing, we will see you next summer. Have a wonderful fall.
