Adoption Services

 

Comprehensive adoption services include:

         ·  Monthly informational meetings

         ·  Home studies

         ·  Supervised home visits

             for adoptive parents

Adoption P.R.I.D.E. Meeting

On scheduled Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

 

Post-Adoption Services

Services are offered to provide support for adult adoptee

and birth families that wish to search for

their biological parent or child.

In Flint:

Second Tuesday of each month,

6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

 

In Owosso: 

Third Tuesday of Jan., March,

May, July, Sept. & Nov.

Give a Child Christmas!

 

The Mu Phi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at U-M Flint is sponsoring a fundraiser to "Give a Child Christmas." The group is offering bright red adult-sized wristbands for $1, with all proceeds going to purchase items for children in Catholic Charities' Foster Care program. If you would like to add a band to your collection, or you want to make a difference for a child this Christmas, contact Jasmine via email at jaclifto@umflint.edu.

Foster Care Services
Children placed in foster care have been removed from their homes due to abuse and/or neglect. We recruit, train, and license individuals and families interested in becoming foster parents. Our focus is on strengthening families.

 

Foster Parent Orientation

In Flint, every Wednesday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

 

Relative Licensing

  • Orientation
  • P.R.I.D.E. Training

                 In Flint, Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.

                 In Flint, Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

                 In Owosso, Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.

 

Independent Living Training

This program is designed to help youth gain the skills and knowledge they need to create a life on their own.  Sessions area available to Genesee County youth between the ages of 14 and 18 who are currently in foster care, or youth who are between 18 and 21 who were in foster care when they were 14 to 18 years of age.

 

     Classroom skills and hands-on training in:

  • Health and Self Care
  • Clothing Purchase and Care
  • Housing and Maintenance
  • Employment
  • Preparing and Cooking Food
  • Transportation
  • Finance and Resource Management
  • Finding a Place to Live
  • Education
  • Using Community Resources
  • Responsible Choices
