Fr. David Hannes and three faithful servers from St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church celebrated St. Nicholas Feast Day (December 6) at NESK.  They arrived at 5 a.m. carrying cake, ready to appear on NBC25 with Janet Van De Winkle for the launch of the 25 Day Food Drive. Great hats, guys!

The Soup Kitchen van visits the food drive at

St.George Orthodox on December 4.

Thank you,

St. Nicholas Orthodox &

Our Lady of Lebanon Churches

The generosity of the community was overwhelming! More than 3,800 pounds of food were donated during the month of December. Thanks to the hard work and kind hearts of NBC 25, Dort Federal Credit Union and McDunnough (Fenton) during the month of December, our shelves are filling up. The success of this effort will help us to feed the hungry in our community.

We also thank the customers of Dort Federal Credit Union at all seven locations for selecting North End Soup Kitchen programs to receive funds through their annual snowman sale, which resulted in a check for $5,554.21.

Bob Pollack of Our Lady of Lebanon Parish was among the first to contribute items to the parish's food drive for North End Soup Kitchen programs on December 10.

St. Michael Byzantine's "Byzzie-Truck" was hard at work collecting food and supplies December 17 and 18 in the Flushing area. The Soup Kitchen van was doing the same thing at St. Nicholas Orthodox in Burton.
